Volatge Regulator/Main Board/Data

Post by gregtheham » March 8th, 2016, 9:12 am

Ipod Touch 4th gen....
While testing a wall charger suspect either over voltage or reverse polarity as applied. iPod no longer powers up.
I have read other posts that say Main Board must be replaced. As my only intent is to retrieve data from this unit, I am curious if replacing the main board will also mean losing data. ( I suspect memory is on that board) Please confirm.

Is it possibly to replace only the power cct...even if jury rigged with an outboard regulator, etc.
Apple Schematics and other info is like plans to the the doomsday bomb!

Ps...I did not realize this board was for a repair business, so I am not expecting any "do-it yourself" instruction- but your cheapest option would be appreciated.

Replacing the board will make you start fresh. All your data is stored on the Flash memory chips on your bad board.
