I'm having this same problem, I've tried so many fixes I've read online and I am considering just giving up.

I have a black Ipod Classic, had for a over a year at least, it's just suddenly decided to corrupt.

My SMARTDATA:
Retracts 5
Reallocs: 11384
Pending Sectors: 0

I've got the latest version of itunes and ipod software, I've formatted the drive, reregistered dll files using a .bat file. I will say that after one of the reboots of my PC, I had a few popups on the taskbar saying there was a corrupt itunes.exe file and some other files. I've uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it. Any help please? :)

Your hard drive is bad, you have to install a new one. That many reallocs means the drive is toast or near it.
