Ipod touch fourth gen home button not working.

Post by sona1111 » March 27th, 2013, 8:09 pm

I will start out by saying that I do not actually apple products very much myself. A friend gave me their ipod touch (4th gen) with a really broken screen because I do make hardware repairs and I am the general handyman around. Anyway things went surprisingly well until the very end. after I have everything hooked up I can plug the ipod in and it works great but the Home button will not work. I can take a small screwdriver and press on the tiny button under it and that will work, but when I have the round button on top of the tiny button (where it should be) It will not press.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a very tiny (and very essential!) part of the home button circuitry has fallen off. This would prevent the outer, plastic home button (the part you press when the unit is assembled) from working correctly. You would most likely need to replace the Home Button circuitry. As always you can feel free to order for 'self-installation' or 'professional-installation' and we'll take care of it for you!
