Toshiba MK1224GAH?

Post by mediasponge » April 1st, 2010, 8:21 pm

Has anyone tried a Toshiba MK1224GAH 120GB drive in an iPod 5.5 Gen? There are suppliers offering them for around $80 including shipping. According to the specs, it should be compatible as long as you have the 60/80 GB back and related parts. It's not listed in the RR ZIF drive compatibility table. The MK1224GAH should be OK as a replacement for the MK8010GAH, correct?

I looked into it, and the MK1224 Series does look to be compatible. However, since we have not tested the unit, I can't be certain that it will work in any type of iPod.

Sorry for dragging this up, did anyone successfully fit one of these in a 5.5gen? I'm currently attempting it (After being led to believe it was fine) and am encountering a 1416 error code in itunes, not letting me restore the iPod.
