Zune 120 is MK1634GAL compatible????

Post by Terry Mc » August 10th, 2011, 8:22 pm

Hi,
My question is the Toshiba MK1634GAL compatible with the Zune 120 from what I have seen it has a PATA interface but I have yet to get confirmation if this is a PATA/Zif interface.
And if it is are there any other problems with using it, I see the height is 5mm which fits.
Has this been tried??
I have seen where on one web site it is listed as compatible with the microsoft zune, so that raises my Hope.

Some one tell me this can be done please.

Terry

OK HERE IS THE SOURCE OF MY CONFUSION
Both of these are from this forum and The first one says the same as the other sites I have seen, this looks to be a copied list as I have seen it posted identicle
on several pages selling the drive. Also Both of these are posted by Rapid Repair.

AND HERE WE HAVE THE Zif compatibility chart which contradicts the other statement that it is compatible with
a ZUNE

please let me know whcih one is right. I would love to increase my storage but I have a feeling that, that is not going to happen.

Terry

Could we get an answer on this? It would seem that the MK1634GAL would work in the Zune but nobody has any answers :(

I would still love to have an answer to this as well.
I have not changed anything on mine yet.

I spent over 2 hours researching if you could upgrade the 120gb HD. I finally landed here and this seems to be the ultimate question. Does the MK1634GAL work on this. If I hadn't just picked up a 120gb this week, I'd go ahead and try it myself

I wish someone had the answer as my hard drive just died in my zune 120 and i am stuck between going for more capacity or an SSD for the shock resistance.

I'm afraid my hard drive is dying as well and as they say, bigger is better. I find myself constantly having to narrow down my music collection to fit my zune and all of the information out there on putting a larger capacity hard drive in the zune 120 are mixed. Some say it's possible, others say it's not. It's a potentially big niche market RapidRepair could fill if they could upgrade our hard drives past 120GB.
