how to use a iPod HDD drive as an external

Post by thegreenknight » May 23rd, 2008, 12:53 am

I have been given the challenge of turning tow iPod Hdd's into external strorage drives, I have recieved a 20 and 40 Gb ( drives only) and wondering does any1 know if this is possible? the ports on the end seem similar to Flash memory ports or even PCMCIA can I use them in a flash card reader or PCMCIA port, what format are they? Does any1 know how i can use them as external storage??? thanks The Green Knight

You can definitely pick up a hard drive enclosure for yourself. Then you can plug in the iPod hard drive as necessary.

what about converting a 30GB HDD off the ipod video into an external drive? and I am trying to get the little 4Gb mini drive thing from the ipod mini to function as a drive/CF card type of thing...any one know of a way to allow me to reformat the microdrive so i can use it on my desktop? it used to be my mini drive but I want to figure a way to use it like a portable drive....help please...thanks
