Well even thinking about doing this would not be possible. The screen drivers are not even close to the same thing.

GAL vs GAH drives

The 60/80GB drives are dual platter. GAH on the end of the label defines the size (dual platter), GAL is the single platter drive. you can check the specs on all drive sizes on Toshiba's website.

80Gb Zune

The new drive will function without any special mods. It is plug and play, basically you install the new drive and connect it back to any PC to update, and BOOM you have an 80GB Zune. Installation of the drive is fairly easy: http://www.ipodmods.com/shop/zune-repair-guides.html Hopefully Microsoft w...

The panels are the same. There are only 2 sizes: 30GB (small), and 60/80GB (large). Both 5G and 5.5G 30GB are the same, and 5G and 5.5G 60/80Gb backs are the same size.

The 80GB drive is only available in the ZIF form factor. the 80GB IDE drive (MK4007) was never released. The best you can do with a 4G unit is upgrade to a 60GB HD.

Sounds to me like you need to have this looked at. It could be a number of issues probably hard drive related. Can you send it in for diagnostics?

Re: Problem with my Ipod Mini

Sorry about that first post as a guest. Hello! When I turn my Ipod Mini on, it fails to do so and instead it shows a folder on the screen. I've tried resetting it, but that didn't work; the folder just keeps showing up. Also the computer can't detect it when I plug it in. Your help will be greatly ...

HD issue

Sounds to me like your hard drive has taken a crap. That noise is one of the drive arm getting stuck on the platter inside. It's toast now.
