If you don't have your receipt, they can look up the manufacture date by the serial number. I had the 'red ring of death' on my first 360 and I just called the toll-free number and they were able to open a claim for me based on the serial number alone.

Good luck!

The 5.5gen firmware (with search function) is not compatible with the 5gen at all. There was one guy who tried to make it work and it ended up bricking his iPod. Not sure about the claims that the 6gen is running a version of OSX (I've heard it rumored), but again it definitely will not work on the ...

The reason why you don't see the iTunes folder in disk mode is because it is a hidden folder. Apple set the iPod up so that you can't just drag and drop music from your computer, you have to sync it from the iTunes software.

Not sure about the other problem though.

If the files are in .M4A format, you just need to change the file extension to .M4B -- however if they are in MP3 format I don't know if you can make iTunes recognize them as books. You may have to convert them to .M4A (easily done in iTunes) and then change the extension as stated above. Normally, ...

One other obstacle would be the physical connector on the SSD drive. All iPods up to 4gen use what looks like a subset of the standard IDE connector (pins). Starting in the 5gen, the hard drives now use a ZIF (zero insertion force) type connector. Basically, it has a ribbon cable that seats in a slo...

FYI, Microsoft has extended the Xbox 360's warranty to 3 years. This should cover virtually all consoles in circulation at this time. Not trying to take any business from RR, just thought you'd like to know...

160gb HDD into 5g iPod?

Any idea if the 160gb hard drive from the new iPod Classic will work in the 5g iPods? I hear that the new drives are thinner than the existing 30gb and 80gb drives. Do you plan on offering them, and do you have any idea when they may become available?

Thanks!

The iVue does not come with an entirely new click wheel, just the cover piece. You will have to remove the OEM cover from the circuitry and attach the clear piece, hence the needed adhesive.

Any chance of iVue for 6G iPod Classic?

Have you guys (Rapid Repair) got your hands on one of the new iPod Classics yet? Do you have any plans to produce an iVue panel for it? I saw some disassembly pics (here: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-Classic) and it looks like the stock panel is very similar to the 5G iPods. Plus, we alread...

RR does have the clear panels in hand. The last post they made indicated that they are awaiting the adhesive that is used to attach the clear click wheel to the OEM circuitry before they can ship. They definitely have them, because I requested mine be shipped without the adhesive and it is currently...

Ok, so I received my long-awaited iVue panel for the 5th gen iPod yesterday. The guys at RR were kind enough to send it out early w/o the adhesive at my request. I chose to retain the black click-wheel. Overall, I am mostly happy with the product. Thus far it seems like a quality build, just as stur...

I also have a question regarding the replacement back panels. The OEM panel obviously has the iPod's serial number printed on it. Do the replacement panels have anything printed for the serial number? Is it possible to get a back panel with absolutely nothing printed on it? (i.e. no Apple logo, no 8...

I've got one on preorder (since November of 2006) and I do not intend to use the clear click wheel. I just want to install the clear face plate and retain the stock black wheel. Is there any possibility of getting mine shipped without waiting for the adhesive? Order #31605 If you are able to ship it...
