Hey there,
I do allot of Ipod repair, but I am doing my first ipod touch repair right now. the guy I know says that the audio jack has worn out and only works for one side. I was looking at the take apart manual for the touch on this site and did not notice if the audio jack in soldered directly to the mainboard or not. I am wondering what it takes to replace this part.

The headphone jack on the iPod Touch 2nd Gen is soldered directly onto the mainboard and is a very difficult install. We wouldn't recommend attempting it unless you are very experienced. Hope that helps!
