Zune 80 Bricked for no reason

Postby apsley » November 3rd, 2009, 1:44 pm

I was just walking around this morning listening to my zune 80 in my pocket and the music stopped, so I pulled it out and it was just off, and nothing I have done since has revived it. I didn't drop it or anything, it just died. It won't respond to any combination of buttons or plugging it in. Its a refurb and I've had it about 4 months. Is this more likely a battery issue or a hard drive issue? I don't really want to spend more than I payed for it on a new HD but I'm thinking since it won't turn on at all that maybe the battery is disconnected somehow. Any advice?

The unit could be essentially locked off. Although we are not sure why this would have happened, we have seen it before. If you let the unit sit for a week or so until the battery fully discharges, it may begin to function again because the unit will reset completely at that point. If that does not work it could be the HD, although we would have to get the unit in here and look at it to know for sure, look here: http://www.rapidrepair.com/shop/zune-repair-services.html and give us a call if you have additional questions/concerns.
